We stood at the top of the cliff and stared at the water below. I gulped, trying not to let my fear show as I looked at the frothing mass of waves against the rocks.
"Sure about this?" I asked, noting how pale Jennifer looked as she watched the waves.
"Not anymore," she replied backing away from the edge a few inches, I did the same. We had all gathered on the cliff, in anticipation of jumping off. Felix looked nervous as he stood behind me. I knew he was afraid of heights, and told him he didn't have to come, but he can be stubborn. I gripped his hand and pushed my own fear down to give him a reassuring smirk.
"I'M SO TOTALLY PUMPED!!!" Gris yelled, making us all jump in surprise. He ran past us and hurled himself off the cliff. Despite my shock, I let go of Felix and stepped closer to the edge. I looked down to see Gris happily cheering in the water below. We all looked at each other incredibly, not thinking anyone would jump.
"Crazy son of a bitch..." Jennifer muttered, shaking
HAPPY BIRTHDAY STEPHANO!!!
My eyes slowly opened, midday light shining through the curtain. The bed was empty, Felix already up without waking me. Normally he wakes me as soon as he wakes up; the fact he didn't caused me to sit up quickly. Perhaps he was just being nice no, he's always nice was he in danger? I hopped out of bed, not bothering to cover my shirtless chest, out change out of my golden basketball shorts. The house was silent, the only noise was my footsteps hitting the floor; no Gris yelling how pumped he was, no Felix commentating over a game, no Jennifer arguing with Martin about sports, no Chairle quietly talking to Mayo, trying to act as a teacher to him. When I entered the living room, I noticed golden balloons, and golden streamers hanging around the room. I raised an eyebrow, and began to wrack my brain as to why all this was here. Behind me there were several tiny explosions, and confetti rained down on me.
"Happy birthday, Stephano!" A chorus of voices yelled behind me. I turned t
Jennifer and I faced each other, determined smirks on our faces as Mayo set the ball between us and scurried away.
"You're going down," I growled. She smirked at me, then tossed a glance over her shoulder.
Felix blew his whistle and I grabbed the ball quickly. I backed up a few steps while Gris ran behind Jennifer. I threw the ball with a perfect spiral, and Gris caught it with ease before skillfully dodging Martin, giving us first point.
"I'M PUMPED! PIGGEH SLIDE TOUCH-DOWN DANCE!!!" he cheered as he did the worm. I rolled my eyes, but a smile crept across my face anyway.
"One-nothing, Stephano and Gris," Chairle called from the sidelines, a red mark standing out on his pale face from where the ball hit him lat game.
Jennifer grabbed the ball as soon as Gris was done cheering and got ready. I used my height advantage to pluck the ball out of the air as soon as it left her hands. Gris ran around, I threw the ball, another touch-down. That pattern con
As Gris and I swam back to shore, I couldn’t help but think of what had gone on today; fangirls mostly had gone on, but the whole time, I could tell something was bothering Felix. He wasn’t his usual self, he was thinking about something, and it was clearly bothering him.
“Are you two insane?” Jennifer asked, helping me up. I smirked and shrugged.
“Maybe. Cliff diving was your idea to begin with,” she faltered but smiled and lightly punched my arm. I moved my gaze to Felix and smiled at him, but he didn’t smile back. I knit my eyebrows in confusion and motioned for him to come with me.
The sun was setting as we walked down the shoreline, hands intertwined. I glanced out at the water, comparing the colors to Felix’s eyes. I turned to look at him, his eyes had been glued to the ground since we left the group. I sighed and looked up.
Taking Sides CH.13
I heard footsteps approaching us and whipped my head over to see Felix, Gris, Chairle, Jennifer, and two others I didn't know. Relief flooded my body as I saw Felix completely unharmed. I turned back to Brody, whose smirk still looked too arrogant for me.
"Why are you so happy, I don't have to hold back anymore," I questioned, a smirk of my own coming across. He chuckled, his claw covering his mouth.
"This was my plan, I hope you know," he responded quietly. I scoffed and shook my head.
"Now, I can expose you in front of them all."
"What do you mean?"
"I mean that I've had someone on the inside of your little group, and inside of your head. You see; there is a reason my darling Jennifer appeared to you and Felix in your times of need a month ago. I sent her to you," all eyes turned to Jennifer as the color drained from her face.
"What?" I asked through gritted teeth, too angry for words.
"She's quite the little errand girl; infiltrating your minds making it so I can k
Music Soothes the Savage Stephano
"Bye Stephano. Thanks for having us over," Felix said giving me a bro-hug before leaving with Marzia. Just as they were leaving, Jennifer pulled up and waved to them as they drove off, before ducking inside.
"You're back late," I said simply as she brushed the snowflakes off her hood and flipping it off her head.
"Sorry, my meeting ran late. We qualified for nationals!" She explained excited. I smiled as she cheered for herself.
"I take it Martin and Mayo are celebrating?" I guessed as I closed the door. She nodded before walking down and flopping on the couch.
"How about we celebrate too?" I asked as I sat at the piano. She giggled and sat next to me before idly tapping keys. After a few notes I noticed that she was playing a specific tune, and I joined in with a smile. She played against me, but also in tune with me. I began to play faster, a more intricate melody, and she joined in. Not long after we were laughing, and she was playing all the way up the keys.
"Sorry for my enthusias
We followed the sound until we were faced with three large rocks, forming a half circle around a huge cliff. I peered over the rocks, Felix right behind me. The color drained from my face as I observed Chairle and Gris having heated (and surprisingly quiet) sex on the rocks. I hand flew over my eyes and I groaned.
"Why do I always have to see stuff like this?!" I yelled angrily, kicking the sand.
"Oh hi guys " Gris greeted almost sounding embarrassed. I help up the hand that wasn't covering my eyes.
"Don't. Even. Speak. To. Me," I growled angrily, walking away from the two. I heard Felix chuckle behind me, and simply shook my head at him.
"C'mon Stephano, no harm done, right?" he asked, keeping his pace with mine, a large grin on his face.
"I never wanted to see that much of either of them, ever," I grumbled, trying to keep the image away from my brain. He laughed again, the soothing sound draining a bit of my anger away.
"I know you didn't, I didn't either, but these things
